Character
King Triton
Ariel's father, king of Atlantica
King Triton, also known as the Sea King, is a major character of Disney's 1989 animated feature film The Little Mermaid. He is the ruler of Atlantica, an undersea kingdom inhabited by merpeople. As king, he wields the all-powerful trident that grants him control over the oceans. By his wife, Queen Athena, he is also the widowed father to seven daughters, the youngest of which is Ariel, whose rebellious spirit often clashes with Triton's authoritative rule.
