Grandpa Beagle enthusiastically proposes to the BBs a Delinquent’s Club challenge to reward the city’s most historically dishonest family: they must bring three original pieces of evidence from the era. Left alone at the PC to register, GB is shocked by something he reads. So they set off for the Old West, Alcatram Penitentiary, and the State Mint, where GB strangely tries to dissuade his nephews (who are now deeply involved) from proceeding. But often, thanks to chance and despite many obstacles, he finds the evidence they seek, and so they all return home triumphant. But when GB goes out to mail the package with the three pieces of evidence and enters an alley, destroying them, his nephews, who had followed him, appear unexpectedly, suspicious. So NB must confess that he has discovered that their ancestors who immigrated from England were direct descendants of Robin Hood’s most trusted archer, the Gentleman Thief who returned his loot! The BBs understand that it was a good thing to have sabotaged the competition as it is better to be losers but at least still “respectable”
